Bipolar Disorder is a scary mental illness that wreaks havoc on millions of people and their families every year. Bipolar is a hard disorder to navigate, both for the individual diagnosed and their loved ones.
This blog is the perfect place to find ways to handle the complications that come with a diagnosis- including how to handle the stress of a diagnosis, the anxiety, and panic attacks that come with living with bipolar, tips to reduce the stress of ADHD and OCD, how to calm down before bed to reduce bipolar disorder-induced insomnia, and many many other things that I found to be incredibly helpful for everyday struggles I encountered during the years following my diagnosis.
My name is Lauren Wayles and I am a Senior at the University of Arkansas. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in May of 2018, though I have lived with symptoms almost my entire life. I found that life after diagnosis was incredibly scary and hard to predict, with family members and friends unable to know exactly how to treat me, feeling confused and lost in my emotions, and struggling to understand when my bipolar disorder ends and my personality begins.
These problems are some of the many that I have tackled in this blog. I hope that this blog finds those struggling with living with a bipolar disorder diagnosis. I wrote this blog not only to inform and to help but also to provide a community where people with bipolar disorder can feel safe, understood, and loved. If any of my readers are in need of an ear to listen to or a shoulder to cry on, feel free to contact me under the About tab in my blog!
